Why we are building an AI Product Owner

We started using coding agents on our own work and hit the wall everyone hits. The agents were fast. Deciding what they should build next, and writing it down well enough that they could act on it, was not. That work has a name — product ownership — and it did not get faster just because the coding did.

So the bet is narrow and stated plainly: teams adopting coding agents have a product-ownership gap, not a coding gap. Laimonade owns that gap. It grooms the backlog, runs the sprint, hands agents their work orders over MCP, and closes stories on Git evidence rather than on someone's say-so.

We are deliberately not building another agent that writes code. There are good ones, and they are not the constraint.

The claim is falsifiable and we would rather find out early than be right slowly. If teams a month into agent adoption tell us their bottleneck is still generation quality or review throughput, the bet is wrong and we would like to know.
